A guide to care questions / U.S. rules
Can it be prescribed in the U.S.?
Ask which rule allows the exact product to be made and supplied. Ask when that rule was last checked.
No approved U.S. use in the approval search
The approval search dated 30 September 2026 found no U.S. approved TB-500 medicine for any use.
A prescription is a medicine order from someone licensed to prescribe; FDA approval is a separate review of a drug product.
A product’s name or code in a government drug list does not mean FDA approved it.
Ask the clinician to name the exact product and show you the rule that allows it to be supplied.
Pharmacy rules and the withdrawn request
Under U.S. ingredient rules, the HHS draft dated October 30, 2026 proposes not pursuing enforcement against licensed doctors or state-licensed pharmacies preparing TB-500 for a named patient's prescription, provided they meet its conditions.
These are legal requirements, not lab tests that TB-500 failed.
FDA found no official written standard saying what TB-500 is and how to check its quality as a drug ingredient.
It also found no approved medicine containing TB-500.
TB-500 was not on the official list of extra ingredients regular pharmacies may use.
The group that asked FDA to add TB-500 to that list took its request back.
That did not give pharmacies permission to use TB-500, as recorded in September 2026.
Unpack the made-to-order claimA request taken back is not permission
On FDA’s page marked current to 22 April 2026, TB-500 is listed under requests to allow pharmacy use that were taken back.
FDA still prints its concerns about possible harm beside TB-500.
Being on that list does not mean TB-500 is approved or cleared for use.
FDA gives no date for when it put TB-500 on the list of requests taken back.
In July 2026, FDA staff recommended keeping TB-500 off the official list of ingredients regular pharmacies may use.
An expert group advising FDA met in July 2026 to discuss TB-500.
By October 30, 2026, HHS’s draft reported the panel’s July 2026 vote in favor of putting TB-500 on that list.
Ask for the rule itself when an offer rests on a headline about the committee.
