A guide to care questions / Sport rules

What if I play a tested sport?

Bring the substance name to the body that runs your sport’s drug rules. Keep that question separate from a medical discussion.

Sport rules across world and college competition

At the 30 September 2026 check, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) listed TB-500 as banned both during and outside competition.

The 2026 list stays in force through 31 December 2026; the published 2027 list starts on 1 January 2027 with the same TB-500 entry.

Ask the sport’s rules body for the current position and how its rules apply to you.

College sport has its own list

The National Collegiate Athletic Association, or NCAA, also names TB-500 on its 2026–27 banned-substance list.

Give the college’s sports staff the exact substance name and ask them to check the current list.

Keep the written answer with any discussion of care.

A medical need does not settle the sport question

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) accepts requests for a therapeutic use exemption when a banned medicine is medically needed.

That is a conditional request process, not an automatic exemption for TB-500.

Ask the appropriate rules body about the process before treating a prescription or a claim as permission.

Avoid guessing how long a drug test might find the substance after use. Ask the sport’s rules body what is allowed.
